David Almond: books and awards

David Almond grew up in the north-east of England, where most of his stories are set. His first children's novel, Skellig, won the Carnegie Medal, and in 2010 he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award.

David Almond wrote 8 books on our shelf that won or were recognized by the Carnegie Medal for Writing and the Carnegie Medal for Illustration, between 1998 and 2020. One of them won. Most are for ages 9 to 12 and teens.
